Our Approach
The solution to our current environmental dilemma must engage, educate, and empower individuals to make substantial, sustainable environmental changes in their lives and communities. The RG solution—using film as a catalyst for change—is a unique and concrete way to educate and motivate people about a problem or an issue. Films are compelling and vibrant messages, and their impact is immediate. They have the ability to cut through barriers and educate individuals in a short period of time.
Organization History
ReelGreen was inspired by a conversation with Goldman Prize-winning filmmaker-activist Judy Bonds, who armed with a PowerPoint presentation and accompanied by the Clean Energy Action Coalition – they were able to gather supporters and eventually convince several universities to transition to 100% renewable energy, Executive Director Carolyn Scott wondered that if a PowerPoint presentation could effect change, couldn’t a film make an even stronger case for change?

ReelGreen's (RG) mission is to unite, educate, and galvanize communities into taking grassroots action, using award-winning films as a vehicle for bringing together communities to organize and implement successful, long-term sustainability campaigns to solve complex environmental problems.
