Reel Community Action recognizes the power of local community action, and gives lead organizers the tools to drive specific campaigns to address environmental issues. We identify proven sustainability models to help drive measurable and dramatic change.

Reel Community Action GOALS

We offer activists and community leaders the tools needed to create local events that advance awareness about environmental issues, while delivering long term strategies and sustainability models that work for achieving dramatic and effective change.

Reel Community Action acts as a facilitator to bring together resources, people, and solutions. We connect the dots - identifying key organizers and projects that can make a tremendous difference in addressing environmental problems. We empower lead organizers and their communities with tools; including films, planning guides for events ranging from a single issue to a full festival, solution models, and proven strategies to build local and global partnerships—to plan a successful film event, then continue momentum, working with local communities to a successful project completion.

The film An Inconvenient Truth showed many Americans a reality of which they were unaware; that the climate crisis is real and that we must take immediate and decisive action or face dire consequences. This film inspired individuals, communities and governments to shift the conversation and drive change for climate protection. The power of films to communicate a complex idea in less than 2 hours is remarkable. Films can be both an educational medium as well as an inspiration and a call to action. In the same way, Reel Community Action uses motivating films as the catalyst to inspire individuals to move from audience to active participant. But beyond the films, which we believe are just the key to opening the door of awareness about environmental issues, we recommend the best and most successful sustainability models to communities to implement. These models range from municipal financing programs for solar energy to community organic gardening projects.

Reel Community Action’s primary focus is on making the most powerful changes in the least amount of time—to improve local conditions and then replicate those proven solutions everywhere.
